Would you like to list your top three favorite tobacco's?
Not everyone rotates tobacco. But, those who do, usually have a few favorites.
On the other hand, one of our members, Craig Tarler, President of C&D, has hundreds of blends at his disposal, daily. But, Craig says, all he smokes is exclusively, Two Friends - Heritage Blend created by he and Gregory Pease.
I thought it would be interesting to see MPC members list their top favorite(s).
Please show the complete name as not everyone understands MPC shorthand and list the manufacturer. Also, it may help some who want to investigate your choices if you list a website they can go to for more information on the listed blends.
Here are mine in order of preference:
1. Captain Bob's Full Flavor Blend (Cornell and Diehl)
2. Riverboat Gambler (Cornell and Diehl)
3. Two Friends - Heritage (Cornell and Diehl)

Nope,
can't do it. The list is too long and too close to whittle it down to only three, more like 30 and growing.
Fume in pace, ckr
Hmmm,...
Presently (since February), I'd have to put Old Joe Krantz by Cornell & Diehl as my number one blend or "security blanket" smoke.
My next two blends depend on different variables. Haunted Bookshop & Riverboat Gambler, also by Cornell & Diehl, are my alternates.
I'm fooling around with other stuff by C&D just to see if I need one more "off the wall","once in a while","special circumstances" type blend. Bob Runowski sent me a prototype blend which got me to thinking...this stuff is meant for special moments.
Anyway,I continue on my quest, and will most likely sample everything on Craig Tarlers shelf...I'm thoroughly impressed!

I'll do ya one better
Virginia:
* McClelland 2010
* Samuel Gawith Full VA Flake
* Orlik Golden Sliced
* Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake
* McClelland 5100
* MacBaren VA Flake (not Virginia #1 - never tried it)
Va/Burley:
* MacBaren Navy Flake (is there any finer weed on the planet?)
Burley/Va:
* Gawith & Hoggarth Best Brown #2
Englishes ... Va/Cigar ... Balkans ... Aros ... they all take 2nd best to these I've already listed.
Oddly enough even though I'm racing through that tin of Old Gowrie I just can't put it on par with the VAs I listed. Hmm. Must mean something I guess.

Prince Albert
Carter Hall

well...
I definitely have a #1...and that is OJK...
after that it gets messy...I need to try it...but I think I will like riverboat gambler very much...and that has a great likelihood of being on this list soon...other than that...there is McClelland St. James flake, Mac Baren Navy Flake, Haunted Bookshop...and many more...the only one that is clear for me is my #1
Cheers,
Josh
cob plug ?
This is very difficult.
It feels like I am changing my favorites quite often, there are many great tobaccos out there, and my tastes tend to differ alot over time. At the same time, I do not have 10,20, or 40 years experience as a full time smoker...
top three manufacturers perhaps...
SG
GH
uhm... third one is probably orlik, since they own so many brand names nowadays
This is my Pipe. There are many like it, but this one is MINE.
My pipe is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My pipe without me is useless. Without my Pipe, I am useless
I can answer that I have
I can answer that I have only one category of favorite tobacco, my "daily bread": lakeland flakes. In this "category" the milestone is Full Virginia Flake, but I like smoke all variations. Best manufactures, in lakeland flakes, in my opinion are:
1) Samuel Gawith and Gawith & Hoggart (the traditionals)
2) McClelland (top quality)
3) Orlik (cheap'n'easy smokes)
My italian blog: http://lentofumo.blo...
1 and 2 is easy
OJK and PA would definitely be 1 and 2. I can't really tell who would be number 3 probably a toss up of any number of Runowski blends and or straight up codger burlies

Top 3 is not easy but ill
Top 3 is not easy but ill try
1. OSG
2. Mac baren Virginia no 1
3. Paul Olsen 222 flake
and many more all VA blend
Have a good one!
Dan Christensen (noflex)
I can't do this
So I'll choose a few of my new (to me)favourites. New means the past month or two:
Exhausted Rooster
Billy Budd
Plantation Evening
10 to Midnight (Pipes & Cigars)
Morley's Best
Sunday Picnic
Interestingly, all but one are C&D tobaccos. And 4 are Latakia blends.
most reached for
My most reached for top three
PA
Velvet
PS Luxury navy flake
But it does change depending on the weather

Hmmm,

Doesn't one need to smoke the blend they are working on before it is set? Or do those not count?

Clearing up a point a bit....
Craig Tarler, President of C&D, has hundreds of blends at his disposal, daily. But, Craig says, all he smokes is exclusively, Two Friends - Heritage Blend
Doesn't one need to smoke the blend they are working on before it is set? Or do those not count?
Almost true, CKR. Craig will enjoy a bowl or two of developing blends before they are manufactured and distributed publicly. Cap'n Bob is right that Craig almost exclusively smokes the one blend other than the ones being created. But, I generally will distribute samples to fellow smokers when I think that the blend on which I'm working is close to the end. Their collective feedback helps define the final product's composition.
I'm smoking pipes a lot through the day. But, the blends to which I enjoy returning are
ERRd, Morley's Best, and PA or KyClub Blue. I prefer a neutral though some flavor so that my tongue doesn't get fried all the time. When ERRd fades into the sunset, I'll probably rely on either C&D Competition Blend or BigNBurley to substitute, nothing will ever technically replace ERRd.

Favs
I have quite a few favs, but if I had to select 3,
Morley's Best
McBarren Plum Cake
Old Joe Kranz
And a whole list of others.Edgeworth Ready Rub and Prince Albert have climbed my list as of late.
Regards,
Dave
Sure beats ciggs!
You didn't say anything
You didn't say anything about the tobacco still having to be available. Anyhow...
Balkan Sobranie
Frog Morton
Bow Legged Bear
If I had to choose only three, these are what I would probably pick. I'm thankful I don't have to pick only three...
1.Walnut 2.Prince
1.Walnut
2.Prince Albert/Carter Hall mixed together.
3.This one is hard now that Edgeworth has met its demise. It changes from Half&Half, Sir Walter Raleigh, PS Bullseye Flake, and Prince Albert Choice blend.
Three favorite tobaccos
My tastes vary, and although I've smoked high end stuff at times, my favorites are:
1. Prince Albert
2. Cherry Blend
3. Half and Half
Always come back to these classic burleys.
Wriggles
This is a hard question
I'm not sure I can pick three overall. In burley/Latakia blends I like:
Morley's Best
Epiphany
In burley blends:
Peretti's BPC
ERRd
Boswell's Premium Burley
In English blends:
Plantation Evening
PS Balkan Supreme
H&H Ten To Midnight
In VA blends:
Orlik Golden Slices
SG FVF
In VA/Pers:
H&H Anniversary Kake
Bayou Night
In aromatics:
Boswell's Pennsylvania Dutch Treat
Boswell's No Bite Delite
