Get your New Year off to a good start
Hey all you MPCers.
Don’t we have the best forum on the net? Been nice having that crazy Canadian around taking care of some matters that were a real pain in the keista. Since he has fixed that, added some color, given us some goofy avatars to play around with and saved me some repetitive typing I for one certainly appreciate the time and effort he has put in to the forum recently.
I don’t know what he has in mind when he wants some geek to do a redesign and give us a theme but I kinda expect it is like that windows aquarium thingy with the bubbles in the background on the speaker, probably is going to put us all to sleep – but with the cool new updates I think I should kinda trust the kid to know what’s best. When he says he has no artistic ability he isn’t really kidding us – remember that butt ugly pipe that was once our blessed forum logo. Thank God, Josh provided something or we would all be wondering what was wrong with our pipes. Anyway, that ChipIn gizmo at the bottom of the page is in need of a bit more exercise.
So here is the deal – ChipIn has become a raffle. For a measly 10 (USD) you get a chance to get a genuine handmade pipe. Yep, this one is made from genuine briar, not some backyard wood I stumbled across. Sports a clenchable non-yellowing hand cut acrylic stem, a brass inlay (not some crappy cheap band), a delrin tenon and of course it passes a damn cleaner slicker n’ snot. The pipe is 5 3/4 inches and perfectly drilled. The 3/4 inch chamber is 1 5/16 inches deep and top to bottom is 1 9/16 inches. That is a full quarter inch of wood below the tobacco chamber which is the optimum balance between lightness and protection against burn out, with 1/4 inch walls at the bowl top and then thickening it still only weighs in at only 1.3 ounces (36.8g). This baby certainly qualifies as a set it and forget it when inserted into your pie hole and of course the draw is effortless and without whistle. I myself have a couple of Princes and they are a great flake pipe.
So who is gonna be the lucky owner and get to break this baby in? This is a great opportunity to get a ckr original for a lousy $10 American – Of course, only one of you is gonna be the lucky winner but everyone who doesn't win at least donated $10 to a very worthy cause. That does not mean that you can't buy more than one shot, hell break the bank and be sure you get it.

Unfortunately, Brian who is handling the money and doing the drawing is excluded. Oh well, that’s how the cookie crumbles. Since I excluded my donation the odds are slightly better then 1 in 40, so what ya gonna do – blow it on a Powerball ticket for 1 in 6 billion odds or take a shot at this nice piece of briar.

I can attest
To the quality of a ckr pipe. You may occasionally see me refer to a pipe that I'm smoking as a "stunning hand made billiard" - It's a ckr pipe - it IS stunning and as Chris noted, an effortless draw - best smoker I have.
Just giving you all some hands-on input - shell out a few Jeffersons to this awesome site and you may just land this beauty.
Brian - having to pay off Santa ties my contribution, but you can bet I'm looking to add a ckr pipe to my rotation before your Jan 4 deadline!!

What have I got to loose... right?
Well, its gonna have to wait till Friday... but $10 for a shot at that puffer sounds like a good deal. Of course, being among the lower class here and not a high roller, Ill have to settle for the $10 ticket. <GRIN>
Ohh well, happy bettin. =o)

Maybe you were thinking "Why
Maybe you were thinking "Why is an old fart like me doing this?" while you wrote that subject line?
Maybe your seat just got a little warmer as you wrote it .. if you catch my "drift" .. or whiff if you will.
Ah, the endless possibilities.

Correction:
Sports a clenchable non-yellowing hand cut acrylic stem
should be
The stem is hand cut from the finest imported German ebonite
My appolgies, I am sure it is black.

"lower class"
Sparky - the neat thing about this site - and being a pipe smoker - is that we do not recognize "class" stature. Only folks from every walk of life sharing info and comraderie and the love of pipe smoking.
I've been on this site 4 months or so and have NEVER been treated differently because my rotation is dominated by Grabows instead of Eltangs.
That's why I am proud to be a member of this group and proud to be a pipe smoker!

WHAT?! You don't have "high
WHAT?! You don't have "high end" pipes?!? I am appalled! *gasp* *choke* *pant* *wheeze*
Seriously though ... we're all equals - whoever thinks they're more than that are kidding themselves.
We are brothers, but no, you can't borrow my car ;)

Thank you CKR
What a generous, Christmasty idea - even if the pipe is named the Dark Prince (or whatever). It's a beauty.
I always thought a high-end pipe was one with a bent stem. You put the high end in your gob. You light the low end.
Your welcome I think
my gob??

Just bumping this!
I've extended the campaign until Jan. 31, since we haven't met the goal yet. However, we're getting close. Another few weeks and I should have some more funds to kick into it myself (even though I am not eligible for the pipe!)
Thanks for the extension!
I've felt so badly about not being able to put my money where my mouth is to date ... I've been flat out from holiday shopping ... but I should be able to do something before the end of next month.

Ehh??!
Swimming fish, bubbles, little crabs playing violins, mermaids holding a fork and calling it a dingglehopper, the bubbleing sounds spilling over to my surrounsound system. I have MPCitis, and they do not give me that long to live.

Send me your usernames
When you donate, or if you have already donated, could you send your MPC username and Paypal email address to me at admin@my-pipes.com?
This will help me correlate the MPC members here with their somewhat obscure paypal addresses, and will make it easier to do the draw.
Thanks everyone for the donations so far!
