Smoke gets in your eyes
No I'm not singing.
Yesterday I went out for a nice drive in the countryside. Pipe in mouth of course. As I was driving around a cross breeze blew in just as I was puffing out some smoke from that bowl of Solani Aged Burley Flake. Naturally it went straight to my left eye. I've mentioned this before but I have this dry eye thing. The eye doctors have looked at it and frankly there is simply nothing they can do besides give me all sorts of eye drops which, by the way, only make matters worse. Well when the smoke hit my eye I knew I was in trouble. It can't be anything special about ABF but man is this hurting still today. I figured after a night's sleep this problem would solve itself but nope, its still uncomfortable. What a shame - with the weather forecast for rain and showers I figured I'd work on the model of the HMS Victory and read some books today. Now thats doubtful. I mean, what can you do when every movement of your eyes causes a scratchy irritated feeling (its way worse than that description but words fail me) ... I guess I could sleep all day but I'm not that kind of person. Rats.
Well, whatever I do I'll be puffing on something. Straight Billiards are called for today (long enough to keep the smoke out of my eyes).

Whoah, eerie!!!
Rick,
Just last night I was resting comfortably in my garage smoking my ckr pipe with some absolutely delicious Escudo in it and a draft from the open garage door blew smoke into my right eye and I was surprised at how much that freakin hurt!
I don't have the dry eye thing and I can only imagine how much more painful that would be.
I worked through it as Chris's pipe is an absolute dream and the Escudo was not going to be set down.
I probably looked like quite a site with my eyes all teared up and puffing away ;0)
Good luck and hope your peeper heals very soon.
BTW - looking forward to pics of your ship! Sounds awesome - still looking to get the blog thing going?

You could try the old
You could try the old welders trick for burnt eyes
Cut a raw potato and put it in cold water let it soak about an hour
Wet a wash cloth and put it on your eyes
It works for welders with welder burn

Rick, the answer
is to smoke a churchwarden while driving. You have a beard, right? Get yourself an appropriate hat....
Whatever happened to sunglasses? Where you driving in the evening?

What, he should try to look like me?
Sorry to hear about the eye problem, Rick. The fact that the pain lingers all the way into the next day just sucks. I always enjoy the smoke wafting up around my face. I get a good hit of the aroma when that happens. Sure, some gets into my eyes and it is a little irritating, but once the smoke is gone, so is the irritation. I guess I should count myself lucky.
Maybe you need a hookah with a really long hose.

LOL ... churchwarden
Way to go Muddler ... here I am whining about a messed up eye and you want me to get my churchwarden tangled up in the steering wheel of the car every time I take a turn! Jeeze if I do that I'll end up with a sore neck AND a dry eye!

Well Muddler
it seems that there's just no helping some people. ;-)
Rick, sounds like you rubbed the eye a few times without even thinking about it and maybe scratched the eyeball just a bit. I have used the raw potato cure a time or two and it does work.
Best of luck to you Rick.
