A Great Experience With A Pipes Rejuvenator!

A Great Experience With A Pipes Rejuvenator!

Hi Folks,
George at Precision Pipe Rejuvenation & Repair never ceases to amaze me! I sent him three rather difficult jobs and he managed to do them all without missing a beat. The first one in the pic below is an Alex Florov which I purchased as an estate. When I received it I was bummed out to discover that the rim had been badly charred and disscoloured. George refinished the entire pipe and as you can see it looks absolutely new! Some issues came up during the refinish and George reallly went the extra yard in making it look so good! The second pipe is a Tom Eltang which had a beat up stem and a cloudy finish to the rim. As you can see George matched Tom's contrast staining to a "T". The third is a circa 1949 Dunhill bulldog. The stem had been carelessly buffed and had a bit of pitting on the underside. Now it's been returned to it's former glory! If you have a pipe that needs some love do yourself a favour and send it to George!

Wow...

They look great! I have a few pipes that need that kind of work but their combined worth is probably under $15.00.

How I wish ...

Jeeze Dock, I really wish you had taken "before" pics. But they all do look very nicely 'cleaned up'.

Before

I, too, would have liked to have seen the before pictures.

Cool bamboo poker, by the way.

I'm seriously tempted

I have this thing with estate pipes ... the thought of it being in another guys mouth bothers me. But after looking at this guy's web site www.precisionpiperep... and the way he describes how he cleans a pipe along with having seen Dock's pipes post-rejuvination I am very seriously considering grabbing an estate Dunnie to see how it works for myself. Its not like it would be all that expensive of a venture ... and who knows, this might work!

Darn it Dock, you got me searching ebay again. Now look what you've done!

Unbelievable transformation

I can't hardly believe these aren't new pipes. Says a lot for the rejuvies artistry!

Amazing

I cannot believe that those are not spanking new pipes! Rick, I had similar concerns to yours about grimy estate pipes. I've simply focussed on buying really well reconditioned estates from eBay. Haven't been disappointed yet. But seeing this sort of work, it's clear that even some of the grubbier old pieces can be fixed up. Makes me think.

George

is a very talented person and his work shows it. He has posted quite a few threads @ PMF detailing some of his restorations. He quickly points out that pipe repair and pipe making are two entirely different problem sets. Some of the things he revealed in what he does and how he does it absolutely amazed me. Yes, he preforms magic.

There are only two pipe

There are only two pipe restorers who are comprable to George. One is Rich Lewis and the other is Rob Cooper. Neither one of them do private jobs so George's work truly stands alone. His prices are incredibly reasonable for the amount of time he lavishes on each and every pipe. Turn around time is usually less than a month even though he's become the preimenent rejuvenator in the U.S.

Sorry if it seems that I'm really blowing his horn but I'm really thrilled with the quality of work he's been doing for me....

this is what ppl use alcohol for, in one way or another.

Myself I use it for cleaning. Turberculosis is not fun, but it won't survive a strong enough alcohol solution

Its not the health issues

Its a guy thing ... well, maybe not ... but I really have a problem sticking a pipe in my mouth that some other guy had in his ... its like kissing him somehow.

I know, I know. I'm being stupid.

Yes I realize forks and spoons in resturants were in other guy's mouths before I used them.

Yes I realize the girls I've kissed have been kissed by other guys first.

Its not logical ... its just the way I am.

But the way that guy sanitizes the pipes ... well ... it sort of feels ok. Certainly worth trying.

It's a simple philosophy

Have to agree with you on this.
It's actually very simple: I don't suck on your girlfriend so you don't suck on my pipe!

What did you want to do to my girlfriend?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, if I had one (a girlfriend) I'd be pissed right now. Then again I might be interested in some of that sucking action too ...
