Labor Day is a good reason for a new pipe!

With the Labor Day Holiday at hand, and since I have not treated myself to a new pipe in quite a long time, I felt that it was appropriate to treat myself.... after all... what good is all the labor I've been doing if I don't get to reward myself now and then! I've been eyeing a particular Kaywoodie Handmade Freehand pipe for a long time now and just a few minutes ago laid claim to it. I've never owned a Kaywoodie before but for some reason this particular pipe kept calling to me and finally beat out 2 other well known brands for a spot in my piperack. Now the only problem with the holiday is that it will slow down the delivery! Enjoy your weekend!

Welcome back,

we stand by and support any reason, any day, any event as being a most appropriate excuse to purchase a pipe. While the money could be spent on gas, food or rent there is nothing to show it, but a pipe! Now you have made a prudent investment for your leisure time that will last you a life time. It is always better to have something to show for the daily toil and I think it is these things that make that toil more worthwhile.

Good Score.

Got a picture of it?

A link to the web site selling it? Whats it look like? Come on ... give it up ... you know you want to *LOL*

Congrats! May it smoke well for you for years and years to come.

Now, on to the most important question of all ... whatcha gonna break it in with? Will it be dedicated to a particular tobacco, a genre, or will it just be a tobacco slut?

right you guys are

Yes, any day is a good day to buy a new pipe and it truly is a lifetime investment! For break in it will be either Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake or G.L. Pease Cairo. I will let the weather decide between the two. If the weather is a cool rainy autumn evening then the Stokkebye will hit the Bulls Eye(pun intended)
or if the weather turns out to be a nice clear autumn evening then Cairo on the deck is in order. For those interested at a look see:

Very nice!

I love the way the bowl is canted forward. And I'm always a complete sucker for both flame grained pipes and saddle bits. Yup, you snagged a winner! Thanks for the link. I never get tired of looking at pipes.

This is the time...

of year I really get the new pipe itch. For years I'd plan an early morning trip to a B&M about six miles from me.
The ride through the valley on a cool autumn morning is spectacular and marks the end of the hot summer which I really don't care for anyway.
Nice looking piece...enjoy,enjoy,enjoy!

Great, just great....

You guys have given me a logical excuse to not resist a PAD attack. I have my eye on a Pete @ cupojoes.com and If I can survive the weekend without a purchase, then I think I'll make it.

Who am I kidding?? The kids may have to settle for a few Instant Mac and Cheese meals for a few days...

Chris makes a very good point on gifting yourself something that you enjoy and will last a lifetime. What I like about the Peterson line is the look and the very reasonable prices.

Then again, I didn't need much justification...

Thanks Bob,

always like to support a brother's decision to spree. I like the shape and bend it looks like a nice pipe to sit with for a good smoke. It definitely has the airs of reading pipe. The block is well grained up the front and top. It and the birds eye sides show well with the contrast staining. Should be a good addition to your herd. Children, if I remember, are very resilient, you would be surprised at exactly how much nourishment the digestive track can extract from grasshoppers. Might be that they are coming of the age where they may enjoy these refined, more acquired tastes.

Well, I will leave you with my thoughts. I guess there is only one way to find out. Buy the friggin' pipe.

Don't spoil the kids.

If they complain just tell them about the times you had to walk six miles to and from school, in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways and all with no mac and cheese period.

You know what?

The leg huggers DO have it good! Why I remember Dad cutting holes in our pockets so we'd have a toy to play with Christmas morn!

Rick, this would be my 2nd P-lip.

My missing Pete Aran bulldog has one - really like the cool, smooth draw.
