Muddler goes dotty

I did it. I "won" a Dunnie. Firstly, I hope this doesn't imply excommunication from the other side of the fence. I guess the devil made me do it. Actually, I had to. I just had to find out what all the fuss was about. And this morning, before you mob across the Atlantic were out of bed, some poor soul in Swizerland was auctioning a Dunnie Amber Root bulldog. I put in what I thought was a reasonable bid & got it. Did I diddle myself, Rick? Whatever, I'm rather chuffed.

I don't know how to do any of the really clever stuff, so here's the eBay page: http://cgi.ebay.com/...
Perhaps now, at last, I'll be able to understand the Dunhill "thing". I promise I will approach it without unrealistic expectations & just see what happens.

Welcome aboard the good ship Dunhill Muddler.

And talk about starting out in style - an Amber Root even! Thats like saying your first car was a Benz! (mine was a chevy with no class whatsoever)

Seems to be one of Dunhill's really small pipes (Group 2 according to the auction) - you don't see many of them which of course makes it worth more $. You'll need to be ready for a short smoke with that one pal.

I'm surprised (obviously) that you started off with one of the higher grade Dunnies ... way to go man. Most would start off conservatively with a Shell Briar (black sandblast) but then again you don't like blasts. Ah, it makes sense I guess. Well, it sure is super pretty. I'm jealous! All the Amber Root pipes sold on this side of the pond have black stems - an Amber Root with a Cumberland stem sure looks *mighty fine* to me.

Now DON'T go loading up with PA! No, do it in style! Shoot me a private message with your mailing addy and tell me what kind of 'baccy you like best and I'll send you a tin of some aged baccy for that Dunnie.

Score one for the Muddler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm proud of ya, ya done good.

Muddler

Mom always told me if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. But seriously a pretty good looking pipe. Smoke it in peace for years to come.

Et Tu Muddler?

PS: Hugh Hefner smoked Mixture 79 in his Dunhills. I wouldn't subject an estate Missouri Meershaum (COB) to such horrible treatment.

Oh-Oh! Somebody doesn't like Dunnies! Honestly, I was just following orders from SAC. I have nothing against Dunnies. They are just as good as Stannies but three times the price. I think it's the white dot that does it for their owners. Something to do with status? I don't get it, either. But, then again I paid $300 for my Hayes Canadian and it doesn't even have a white dot on it. Go figure.

Don't buy Dunhill pipes. I

Don't buy Dunhill pipes. I want them all myself.
Yesterday 2 new just arrived from London: a 4103 county and a 5103 bruyere. Full price (italy): 900 euro. Something to do with status? I discovered that this objects are used to smoke tobacco. How many corn cobs I could buy? Something to do with taste?
Sometihig to do with this: "Why Dunhill? Must be it's because I can afford something that I like."?

Buddies

If I knew you were going to do that, I would have posted a dozen Dunnies to ole Murderin' Bob Mugabe (not to be confused with Captain Bob - no relation. Bob Mugabe's uniform has more bling). He might not have accepted the delivery though - he's something of a rascist, ole Bob. The colonial white dot would have driven him dilly. And he doesn't need a Dunnie for things to go up in smoke.

Well, I'm looking forward to my new acquisition. Checked the dimensions - not that different from the BOB POY Tinsky bulldog I have. Just chubbier, slightly bigger bowl. More a bull terrier than a bulldog. The pipe will decide what it likes to smoke but it seems that I'm getting best results from my smaller bowled pipes with ribbon tabacks, rather than flakes. So perhaps Laureal Heights or something similar. Who knows? Although OGS works in any pipe. Choices.

I think so:I pretend that

I think so:
I pretend that my pipe (dunnie for me, but isn't importat now) smoke perfectly all types of tobacco.
If a pipe don't smoke perfectly all types of tobacco I sell that pipe.
...smoking perfectly, no defect aesthetic, pipe dry and always ready.
I am bad with my pipes, but, when I find a pipe really ok (really a good dunnie, in my case), then I love it.

I don't accept pipes not perfect because I can not love them.
How many pipes I have is not important as cost is not important: love and really satisfaction, this is important.

and so... I can't smoke... presmoked pipes: my pipes born with me.
and so... I can't buy... on e bay: I must see, touch, weigh....
I love my pipes, not "pipes". I think so.
