Didja ever try...

I ordered a tin of "Waccamaw" from www.smokingpipes.com back in February. It is of their own Low Country line of pipe tobacco.

It is a VA/Per with some "exotic" Izmur leaf thrown in. Not sure what Izmur is, but those of you who like a tasty VA/Per need to do yourself a favor and try this stuff.

I piled into a tin of it last night and I couldn't get enough of it. I was puttering around the pipe station last night and went thru no less than 5 bowls of this stuff.

Has anyone else tried this stuff, and if so, what'd ya think?

I have a few tins in my stash

I smoked one tin. It's good. It reminds Red Carpet and Sunday Picnic but I liked these two a bit more. For me Perique in Waccamaw overshadows everything else. This is not bad per se as I like Perique but more complexity would be better. I plan to come back and to reevaluate all these blends side by side.

Izmir is...

... a city in Turkey known for its Turkish tobacco leaf. It is considered a condimental tobacco to add flavor. My Captain Bob's Blend contains two ounces of Turkish Izmir per pound.

I've never tried a VA/Per

I've never tried a VA/Per with Izmir leaf. I'm somewhat a fan of VA/Pers so naturally this blend interests me. However, since it's a C&D blend, I'm a bit worried about the moisture content being too low. How is/was the moisture content of the tin you have been puffing?

I've tried some five C&D's premium blends and all of them were too moist straight from the tin. Except Briar Fox, which is okay.

Perique in Waccamaw masks Oriental pretty effectively, I would say. As I remember I could not taste it, while, for example, in Red Carpet you can see it there.

Moisture content

When I opened the tin, it was moist, but not too moist. When I open FVF or BB2, it is very moist and I have to let it dry for about 20 mins in order to keep from relighting all the time.

The packaging is such where it does not dry out quickly either.
Easy smoke with no maintenance.

No moisture problems, and an extremely yummy smoke, IMHO FWIW, etc...
