The Future of this Site

The Future of this Site

Hello All.

Thank you for the quick, enthusiastic response to the site. I really hope you all continue to enjoy it.

The purpose of this site is to be community-driven. And to that end, I would like to know where *you* want it to go, what features *you* would like to see, and what shortcomings *you* see in other pipe-smoking communities and sites.

To that end, I would like ot encourage you to post ideas in this thread for where we can go. I already have two things on my 'to-do' list:

  1. Better image and gallery setup to make it simpler to post your pipes.
  2. Tobacco and Pipe reviews w/ the ability to block out reviews by certain users

While I can't guarantee everything suggested in this thread will be done, your ideas will help me prioritize what needs to be done yet.

Thank you!

I never liked this standard forum. It could do with more features. Like listing unread posts and such.

Unfortunately my regular

Unfortunately my regular site (ASP= alt.smokers.pipes)  has become so totally and completely over-run with trolls! It's been especially bad over the last month or so! Is there anything in place HERE to keep them and their followers out?

Best,

Hi Dock. Yes - Both myself

Hi Dock.

Yes - Both myself and a trusted moderator are here to keep trolls out. For obvious offences, I am not above banning someone, if I deem it absolutely necessary.

For less horrible offences, I am going to be putting a system in place where community members may anonymously nominate someone for suspension. If enough people ask for it, I will put it to an anonymous poll, so that the community decides.

Any comments?

As long as the people who

As long as the people who are out of line are given warnings in advance, just let the mods take care of business.

It would be really nice if

It would be really nice if the forum RSS feeds not only contained the original post, but included the replies as well. That would make the forum really useful for those who wish to keep track of where there has been activtity.

I agree

It helps to know why you're being banned, if it would ever happen. So a warning would, indeed, be the least one should get; other than that, it will be up to the moderators.

Cheers!

I think that's absolutely fantastic! It's just too much of a pain in the ass to wade through all of the anti's spam alsewhere and waaaay too much of a temptation to fight with them! A moderated site is really the only way to go now a days! So far it all seems to be a great success!... Congrats, D.Perry

A Warning System Perhaps??

Perhaps a warning system could be instituted so that he offending individual has an opportunity to strighten up before being banned.

Just to clarify for those

Just to clarify for those below... there will of course be a warning system. We all make mistakes. On the other hand, the warnings *will* be enforced.
