10/17/08 - Morleysson - "Other than rubbing two sticks together, or flint and tinder, and lightening takes too long and can be dangerous, I prefer Diamond kitchen matches in the house and the smaller Diamond packs for travel." (on what he uses to light his pipe)
10/17/08 - 1OLDGI - "So Ricky, here's what you do. Pull out a Kaywoodie (make sure it's clean), lock and load a nice bowl of PA, Half and Half, or Edgeworth. Set fire to same. Open a cold Natural Light and enjoy. Sometimes less is more and getting back to basics is a sure fire way to stave off these sorts of existential funks."

SG Best Brown Flake in a Sav Linea Piu on a sparkling Spring day. Spent some of the morning researching Sasieni pipes - fascinating. These pipes were of extraordinary quality prior to the mid-80's & are definitely under-rated. Anybody here own one? Know anything of them?
In the past I have 5 Sasieni 4dots (not expensive, in Italy one pipe for 80 euro).
Thera are 2 types: classic shapes and free hand.
I have only classic shapes. In my opinion the 80's Sasieni are good pipes but but but... many many fills. The briar was really old and very light.
In this italian forum I'm "Mister_NO" You can see here my old sasieni pipes: http://crown.claudio...
If you have some question, maybe I can answer and translate to you.

in a Doc Grabow I got at a yard sale. I was given a Sasieni billiard that a co-worker bought at a flea market for $2.00. The bowl and shank are wrapped in a thin leather jacket and it smokes great.

A day off from work. It's been a busy and rough week at the old job. Starting the day off with Prince Albert Choice blend in a Mountbatten quarter bent. No errands to run, no grass to cut, no other chores to be done, the weather report calls for lots of sun-it's going to be a good day. Happy smoking guys.
Roast and some Haunted Bookshop made for a great morning but it is time to get it into high gear. I want all the errands and chores done by 2ish and the rest of the weekend for MyTime.

Headed to Austin today, just for the hell of it. We plan on hitting at least two brewpubs in the early afternoon and then hanging out at the Ginger Man (about 150 beers available) for the rest of the day. There is a tour of a new brewery tomorrow afternoon that we might attend as well.
I hope to squeeze in a half bowl of Edgeworth in the new Windjammer pipe before we head out.

Still experimenting with the burley base for my mixing. This one I did up last night has a MAD nicotine wallop so I'm strapped in and riding the pony. About 4 puffs in my hands have both started shaking. We may have a winner. I think I'll call this one "Rise and Shine". If you smoked this in the morning with a cup of Cuban coffee you would almost assuredly have a cardiac explosion by 8 o'clock.

I can't wait for winter! I love summer but about this time of year, our most busy time, we all pray for snow. Started today with a ERR/CH/5 BROS. Mix, in a 1960's Grabow. I will be taking a Comoy full bent and a BC billiard to work with some PA. Enjoy your smokes today!

Sure beats ciggs!
My pipe wants to take me for my morning two mile walk. So, grabbed Two Friends Heritage (TFH) in a big BC giant billiard/saddle and I'm off. Hope you all have a fantastic day and enjoy your smokes!

For the week end, in the morning, I opened a new 2 oz. tin of Westminster, the "traditional" medium-full e.n. of Pease. The pipes, as usual, 4103 shell and 5103 bruyere.
High moisture level and beautiful flavour.
I "worked" the 2oz. with my hands out of the tin before smoking, now I'm starting the third bowl: so good!

I've got one more errand to run that will entail driving for a while ... what better way to drive than with a pipe in yer kisser? Later I'll go back for 2nds with the same pipe/tobacco combo but in the back yard with a good book. Have a great day everyone.
(said quietly, "gee I hope this tobacco doesn't have any green worms with parasites crawling on it!")

I'm totally impressed by your attempt to disguise your use of codger burley by lots of bowls of OGS. Resistance is futile. Your bases are belong to us.

I finished off my last order of Riverboat Gambler and went on to sample the RG that Morleysson sent me that was blended in January...oooh! SMOOTH!
I have found Exclusive to be too harsh for my taste, so I cut my sample with some Walgreens Burley and am having it fester a week or two.
Presently, I'm enjoying Exhausted Rooster in a Kaywoodie pot.
