Saturday smokes in july 08

Ahh, the taste of Cob plug.

I don't know about you, but to me a the rank of tobacco starts from the fine cut, to coarse cut, broken flake, flakes, and ends in the plug, the epitome of the tobacco form. Perhaps rivaled by the rope. The whole procedure of taking your stiff sturdy fragrant dark coloured plug, cutting off a few flakes, letting them dry for the perfect amount of time, fold theese plugs and stuff into a good large pipe and set them aglow... It is a part of the ritual, the initial effort that makes the best smoke. It might sound a bit puerile, but to me it also gives a feeling of accomplishment, doing things the more elaborate way.

Anyhow, I hope you gentlemen have a grand day, filled with fullfilling smoke sessions.

Thundering This Morning

So much for going to the beach I guess. Oh well this is Florida, it never rains all day. I may go out to Hudson Beach and watch the sun set this evening (simple things for simple minds I guess). Currently smoking Big n Burley in my beloved Mandarin, very nice, the Chrishill will come out later for some five edges.

Update: Apparently the room note of Big n Burley is a bit rough. My bride is walking around with nose wrinkled up asking "What stinks?" Oh well, I like it anyway

Gonna kill

an hour watching the new "Hulk" DVD. My normal movie pipe is a meer egg, a pipe that would be branded as 'obease" were it a person. However, instead it will be The Slug, a feather weight when in the hands of a Sumo wrestler and it will be feasting on OGS.

Oh this stuff is soooo tasty.

Saturday afternoon, i think it is the 12th of july

and the smoke du jour is a pafait of Kendall black pigtail and ERRd to start the burn in an old no name shorter billiard maybe 75 years old. Being on the computer is better than being outside in the heat, pulling weeds; that's certain.

Trying SWRA

Got out the Grabow test pipe and packed it with some of the SWRA I bought (in addition to regular SWR, Matches) to make shipping on my last order. You know, this stuff is really mostly burley. The casing just takes the edge off a bit. No vitamin N to speak of though. Not a bad smoke.

Tried the CH in the same pipe last night. Not bad either. Still partial to PA;but, Walnut is growing on me.

Been traveling all week for work. While in Austin, I picked up a tin of Erinmore flake. Now (a la GI) this stuff is the poo. Smoked it in my Stanwell in the smoking lounge of the Denver airport. My,it was good. Sweet in just the right places. Yum.

My tobacconist mentioned that he heard rumors of a discontinuation of this one. Anyone hear this?

Should be working on the house. Not bothering. Rather sit on the back porch with my lappy, a coffee, a good book and a smoldering pot of tobak.

C?heers friends!

The rain and thunder has ended...

It's a very pleasant day in Wisconsin. Took my L'Anatra-7 inch Canadian for a long walk filled with Captain Bob's Blend (my own) and we traveled two miles. I feel a need for a shot of Virginia. It will be Two-Friends Heritage. Enjoy your pipes, gentlemen and lady Watchmaker!

Yuck

4 hours of house work, what a waste but it has to be done every so often or the flies would complain. Feeding the 5150B some PA and the plan is to take a nap and hit the dungeon into the wee hours. Got a bunch of wangi (bamboo) in to play with last week.

The Chrishill is Once Again on the Loose

Burning some PA in my new Chrishill. Most excellent. Finally decided to clean up some of my pipes so I guess that will burn off an hour or two.

A Cigar and a Pipe

Spent this afternoon at the B&M trying a Joya de Nicarauga ... yak! That thing was horrid. I think this is going to be like my aro searching days ... you know how it goes, I try many different samples and every time lament the money wasted ... well, that cigar was pretty darn bad. Had a nasty nic kick too. Yak. Scratch that one off the 'try me list'.

Now, back to the good stuff.

Me out on the patio (with good book), Group 4 Dunhill Dress Straight Billiard / 3year old Dunhill London Mixture ... ahhhh, now thats more like it.

This evening...

I'm packing Troost into Bings Favorite. Looks like my tobacco order will be delayed...what a revolting development.

Now, that is a great pipe. I have owned three and chewed through the stem of all of them. Countless hours of enjoyment, though. I must get me another one of those. I see that IRC (www.iwanries.com) has a selection of them.

So, what has caused you revolting order delay? I hope it's not something too bad like a money shortage! I deal with that all the time. That's why I have credit cards. While I don't cellar tobacco, I do carry a hefty card balance and it is aging well!

Too much time working today

Too much time working today and not enough time to smoke. Spent what little time I've had smoking Edgeworth RR'ed in a Peterson system pipe(314). Hope you guys are having a good weekend.
