Tues 23rd September Puffs
On as fine a Spring morning as one has the right to imagine, I'm ensconced with Haunted Bookshop in a Pete full bent Sherlock Holmes. At home today, so I'll be fiddling about, probably rather unproductively. Life is good.

to start another thread with some arcane Croatian aphorism. One snoozes, one loses, I guess. I started this AM w/ Morley's in a Peterson Killarney X105. A pleasant 61F in Philadelphia. I can hear the chimes on the front porch, moving in the light breezes along the street. I'll be starting breakfast in a few minutes for SWSL and me, especially a cup or two of strong black coffee which complements the pipe so well. Another day, though, of trudging bureaucracy, making incremental decisions for infinitesimal benefits.
For all of you, i wish you fair winds, clear skies, and a full pipe.
"What would the world be, once bereft Of wet and wildness? Let them be left, O let them be left, wildness and wet, Long live the weeds and the wildness yet. " Gerard Manley Hopkins
With some dark star, and I am still following that path.
I do see some cob plug not too far into the future though
If I have not seen as far as others, it's because giants have been standing on my shoulders.
on the ride in this morning. The Connecticut Valley has the look and feel of autumn this morning. Have Riverboat Gambler in a Butz-Choquin Brumaire.
Wishing us all a great day!

OJK from my freakishly hideous rhodesian, that's nice!
"What I must do, is all that concerns me, not what the people think. This rule, equally arduous in actual and in intellectual life, may serve for the whole disteinction between greatness and meanness. It is the harder because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."
Thought I'd share a bit of Ralph Waldo Emerson with you, I'm re-reading Self-Reliance. Emerson is a great writer and I might also add a pipe smoker.
"Shall I say, I have gone at dusk through narrow streets and watched the smoke that rises from the pipes of lonely men in shirt-sleeves, leaning out of windows?" T.S. Eliot
When going pedestrian, don't mess around go all the way. Always a good smoke - who says smoking has to cost an arm and a lung.
Fume in pace, ckr
Have 5 pipes in my pipe tote and an ample supply of Captain Bob's Blend and Two Friends Heritage.
Smokin a Butz Choquin Danish bent right now. Had it for a dozen years or so... a great smoker.
You can't take your pipes with you when you leave this wonderful Earth. But, you can smoke it and enjoy it while you are here. Enjoy your smokes, gentlemen.

Captain Bob's Blend: www.cornellanddiehl....
Just about to head downstairs boys. Its been a productive day at work and now I'm ready to relax for a bit. Good book on the side of course. Catch you all tomorrow.

Nothing like a contentious business meeting to make me dive for the nearest pipe... tonight it's TOTM in a Tinsky.

I think I will throw some MacBaren Vintage Syrian in a Stanwell 45. Nothing like Fall in Texas. It was 90 F today and a little on the humid side.
EDIT: I tell you, I'm loving this coffee grinder thing. Except for ERRd, I have chopped everything that I have smoked for the last week or so. So now my smoking accessories include my Old Boy, a Czech tool, my favorite ashtray, and a Braun.
