Any fans of Russ Ouellette's Hearth and Home Tobaccos here?
I remember when I was on ASP that many folks fell head over heels in love with Russ' tobaccos. I tried Sunjammer and really enjoyed it (have a little downstairs aging!). But I can't say I remember seeing folks here smoking Hearth and Home blends ... Anyone??

I tried all Ouellette's non-Latakia and non-Cavendish blends + Admiralty. Some were so-so, some were okay. I still have 1 oz of each Marble Kake, Rolando's Own, Anniversary Kake and Admiralty sitting in jars plus one tin of Louisiana Red waiting for revisiting.
I would distinguish two, Anniversary Kake and Marble Kake. The beginning of the bowl is fantastic but quickly deteriorates. Looked through my notes and saw that I also considered AJ VaPer as one of the best of the line.
For some reasons most of Oullette's tobaccos bite me like crazy. I don't even have such reaction to MacBarren's tobaccos. This plus non-distinguished taste made me to pretty much close this line for me. They just don't agree with me.

Love Louisiana Red, 10 to Midnight. Sunjammer is very good - as good as 965. AJ's VaPer is also a goodie. Never liked the Kake's. Think it's because they arrived petrified.
My favorites are Sunjammer, Ten To Midnight, Anniversary Kake, Old Tartan, and Old Companion. I keep all here in stock, I'm a hopeless tobacco whore.

Russ was my roomie at CPCC in 2006. So yeah, I got to try a fair bit of his blends back then. Some of them I liked, some of them I liked less but that's OK and the whole point of having a whole range of blends.
Some of his blends will probably appeal to you too. Some won't. the proof of the pudding and all that, you know. Overall, I can say, however, that Russ has a good idea of what he's doing.
If you were to press me into giving some --personal as they may be-- endorsements, I'd say try his Virginia Spice and Louisiana Red.
Cheers!
