Current 12

Current 12

It has been awhile since we shared the tobaccos that we currently have open and are smoking. My current 12 are:

C&D Evening Rise
C&D Old Joe Krantz
C&D Haunted Bookshop
SG Best Brown Flake
SG Full VA Flake
SG St. James Flake
Rattray Professional Mixture
Middlebury
OGS
MacBaren Navy Flake
MacBaren HH Vintage Syrian
Balkan Sasieni

The infamous 12 have been joined by their two big bothers. I now have two large bail-top jars. One is filled with a tub of Walnut, the other contains a tub of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed.

What do you have open right now? Cheers!

I can hardly compete...

... I've got open the following jars of tobacco:

Captain Bob's Blend
Two Friends-Heritage

... but I sure am enjoying them.

Chris, I enjoy your short reviews like "Interlude". How about some more of your experience as you wade through all that aluminum. I'd be interested to hear what you have to say.

By the way, the mysterious cardboard/paper is to prevent the flakes from breaking up in shipment.

Don't forget to recycle your aluminum when they are all smoked up.

Let's see... 41 tins @ $10 = $410.

Hey! ... I could buy 14 pounds of Captain Bob's Blend for that! I need more mason jars :)

Kind of

reverse 'loaves into fishes' thing, huh, Michael? 26 becomes 12, sort of. Reminds me of the bumper stickers that I see in my neighborhood all the time re Ireland; "26 + 6 = 1". Great selections of tobacco, though. In fact, I could easily fall into any of the foregoing selections rather easily and not miss a beat. I feel somewhat schizophrenic these days with a small pile of OTCs, another small group of C&Ds, and my newly-found obsession with G-H blends (Dark flake, Coniston, Bosun's, and the pigtails). I like flavor and strength in what I smoke. Otherwise, why smoke?

For our European friends, have any of you recently seen "Schipper's Tobak", either the green or brown packs? There is an old friend (like 75+ YO) who mentioned them to me and I would like to accomodate him.

I know Schippers Tabak is available in Holland and Italy. You might also be able to find it in some German stores.

Note: I have only come across the white packs.

I'm not sure about brown or green, but if that white is also good, contact me, and let me know how much you'd like and I'll see what I can do for you.

Jars, tubs, and baggies...way more than I can manage but I am confident I can muddle through.

I did. And my precision tobacco strike force will be by soon to get you down to that number. An open tin of Mixture 79 through your window and while you are incapacitated by the stench, they will confiscate enough tins to get you down to 12, which is the universal tobacco number.

Resistance is futile.

The precision tobacco strike force

The precision tobacco strike force will be easy to recognize ... they all wear hats covering their eyes. We'll see 'em coming from a long distance and the hats they wear will stop them from seeing us as we prepare to throw tins of Ennerdale Flake back at them!

Besides we're in no real danger from the Mixture 79 ever hitting the glass panes of the window - these guys all drink copious amounts of various alcoholic beverages ... they couldn't hit the side of a barn after a few drinks! (and they pee all over the toilet too!)

Obligatory Snide Remark about Mixture 79

Wow, what a flash bang. Mixture 79? I'd rather you just threw a burning bag of crap through my living room window. Eventually I could purge that smell, but Mixture 79 would become a permanent part of the house forever it would remain soaked into the walls, that smell of old lady perfume. Anyway, here's my 12

You guys need prayers...

"Lord, show them the way, give them the strength to follow the right path. Grant them the strength to avoid temptation to dwell in evil places, consumed by variety for variety sake, consumed with desire for self-gratification. Show them that one is enough, two is plenty and three is too much. Bless the tins of their sins and show them the light onto the path of your holy Virginia, Burley, Cavendish, Perique, Latakia, Turkish and other condimental leaf. I pray this in Your name, Amen.
