Clarification needed
So besides the height whats the difference between a Pot and a Billiard? I think (and I could be wrong here) that the Pot has a larger diameter bowl ...
Previously I thought a Pot was for those times when you didn't have enough time for a full Billiard smoke but if the bowl is larger in diameter then my thinking was all wrong.
Any help?

That the Pot simply has a shorter bowl and thicker bowl walls, but the actual chamber diameter would be the same. You maybe be right on with the theory of needing a shorter smoke.

Unless the chamber is really short, I consider pots to be equivalent in smoke length to billiards due to their increased diameter. Of course, it depends on the billiard and the pot. All pipes out there marketed as billiards vary greatly, as do all pots, so it is hard to do a good comparison.
I just did the math on the volume of a Stanwell 45 (classic pot) compared to the volume of a Stanwell 03 (classic billiard). The pot had a larger volume. Of course, then I looked at another 45 and it was smaller. Damn variations.
But, back to my original statement, I consider a standard pot and billiard to be roughly equal.

usually 7/8 chamber diameter and walls about a third thicker than a billiard. However, often billiards are started but become pots due to some flaw appearing in the upper bowl.
The best pots have copper clad bottoms.

Yeah what these guys said. The walls are much thicker and just from eyeball perspective the bowl diameter is a bit larger even though the bowl appears shorter than the billiard. I would guess we're talking about nearly the same tobacco capacity.

I was kind of hoping it would be the same as a typical Billiard making a much lighter pipe (clenching issues).
