Hello everyone
Hello my name is Jeff. I have been smoking a pipe for 2 years now. I really enjoy pipe smoking, and plan on doing some of my own pipemaking and repairs. I just moved from Missouri to Georgia and I have been having a hard time finding a good tobacco store. I have been smoking Walgreens mellow blend. It is not to bad. I live close to Athens if anyone knows of a good tobacco store please let me know. The only tobacco stores that I have found are headshops and they charge $2 a Oz for the same stuff I was getting for $1.10 Oz.

I smoked Walgreens stuff for years, then discovered Cornell & Diehl. Hope you enjoy the group here.

Welcome to the site Jeff. I can't really help you with the Georgia situation, but if you ever consider shopping your tobak online, there's a whole heap of good online stores out there. Let us know and we'll provide you with a lengthy list of reputable businesses.

www.CornellandDiehl.... is a link to fine pipe tobacco. You will pay more but it is worth it. I agree with Matches on that. There are other's as well. More expensive isn't always better. But, it usually is.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I decided to call the place where I got the tobacco. They said it was a golden cavendish blend from lane limited called 1Q. Does anyone know of a reputable distributer for lane limited or something similar to that kind of tobacco. Thanks. Jeff
how it is down south, but up north it is getting harder and harder to find any tobacco stores that sell anything other than Capt.Black and Borkum Riff. That's what finally got me to shop online.

Yeah I don`t mind shopping online that sounds like what I am going to do anyway. I have looked around online and have found a few places to get my tobacco just trying to find a good price for it now.
For online vendors, there are multiple good choices. A few (not all) are:
www.cupojoes.com
www.smokingpipes.com
www.4noggins.com
www.pipesandcigars.c...
www.lilbrown.com
www.smokershaven.com
Note that they all have different shipping policies. If you buy enough, you can get free shipping from some of these. But you may well not be interested in buying that much!
Most of these will have the Lane 1Q that you've been smoking.
I strongly agree with Captain Bob's suggestion of Cornell and Diehl. (I typically get their tobacco from one of the above retailers rather than from the company directly, however.) That would be a big step up in quality from the 1Q. It will cost you more, but it's well worth the extra.
And for the record, $2 an ounce is cheap... in NYS our average price for a bulk tobacco is over $3 an ounce... usually close to 4. If you order from on online retailer, be sure they are outside of your state, so you can avoid the taxes. Although they will not be as severe as NYS tax, might as well save a few pennies.

Honestly, online is the way to go. And try lots of different tobaccos. Lane 1Q is a good one to start with but you'll soon outgrow it. Promise.
Welcome.
