Howdy from Georgia
Hello Everyone,
My name is Dale, I'm 41 years old and married to a wonderful woman named Lisa...(aka: CigarWench on a couple of the cigar boards). I'm ex-Navy. I am a Colorectal Cancer Survivor and.... The Good LORD Willing..... Will be around for a loooooong while still. I love the Outdoors and hunting. I love to cook, especially smoking & grilling and currently collect cigars and wine, and will most likely be adding a pipe collection soon. I live in my childhood home in Hephzibah, Georgia.....Just South of Augusta. I've lived all over and there ain't no place like home. I'm also a GrandPa and soon to be x2.
I've been smoking cigars since 1986, but I'm brand new to pipes and loving what I see so far. It would be easy to say...... I'm hooked. Although my smoking thus far is rather limited, as to different brands, blends, I have developed a sincere like for the Burleys and non-aromatics already. Hoping to try as much as I can to narrow down my tastes even further. I'm hoping I can learn fast and begin to contribute to the site as well.
My home here in Georgia is always ready for a cigar and pipe herf, with a little notice. Food, beer, open humidors, and a lifelong friendship are there for the taking....in the event anyone in interested.
That's about it I guess.

Dale, we are pleased to have you onboard. I've only been a member a couple of weeks but am already very active and enjoying the spirited companions I have found here. It is one very special group, indeed. They made me feel very welcome from the start. I am on my best behaviour with my new friends! However, they seem like the kind of guys that will accept me for who I really am... A pipe smokin fanatic of 42 years. I am age 58 and it hasn't killed me yet. My biggest fear is the non-smoke addicts! There was a time when I, too, smoked cigars. Cigars are good. But, I never enjoyed the taste of my pipe following a cigar smoke. So, cigars lost out!

I've been around about as long as Captain Bob but he's spot on about his comments. This is a good bunch of guys. Look forward to your posts.
Glad you chose to join our group. I've been around here since the site started up and I can tell ya this is a good group of guys for sure.
So ya like Burleys ... you'll get plenty of advice regarding that fine weed around here. I'll leave that to the Burleyphiles (they'll jump on this thread shortly I'm sure.
Regarding other unflavored (uncased) tobaccos I'd strongly recomend that you check out our Tobacco of the Month series (look on the upper right pane of this page). It comprises a list of our favorites. Why not jump on the TotM bandwagon and learn from our experience starting today!

I, too, have been around since the very beginnings of the site, and it really is great to see it grow with more and more wonderful people.
Glad to see you joined us, don't be shy. I'm sure you'll fit right in with the rest of us nutters.
Cheers!

you can't get lost in the crowd here since we're pretty small, but it's a great place to hang out.

welcome, I hope you like it here as much as I do!

When you mentioned that unpronouncable place in Georgia you live in, I thought for a moment, it was Georgia the country. I thought, Hey - we're pushing new borders here. I'm very jealous of your being a grandpa so early. Must have a word with my two. Ya - pipes are about peace. Peace doesn't give you cancer - it cures it. You're on the right track here, bud.
Don't fuss about becoming knowledgable is order to share. The forum is about participating, no matter what. Old geezers love young guys asking advice. Makes them feel useful.

glad to have you aboard. Often we bust on gartards but don't take it personally. I smoke them also and sometimes I hit a real good smoke from one that is right on target, but the pipe world has so much more to offer.

Dale,
How delightful to welcome another southern bred, ex-GI burleyphile. What is it they say in the Navy? Bravo Zulu! At any rate, welcome aboard. Great bunch of folks on the forum I'm sure you'll feel right at home.

and I hope that you find this site and this group as friendly as I have. Think of this site like the diner in the Edward Hopper painting, 'the Nighthawks".

Very nice welcomes..... Thank you all.

Hi Dale,
Sorry for the late greeting. Not getting on here on the boards as much as I would like.
Welcome to the club and here's to more years of smoking and being with your family.
